Cooked: A Natural History of Transformation - Michael Pollan

I was actually looking forward to this chapter at the beginning - if there is one place in the US where most of the people you work with homebrew, it's Portland, OR. It's so common here (I had a professor offer to bring a 6-pack to anyone who aced his exam), I was startled when Pollen talked about how uncommon it was.
