Tell the Wolves I'm Home: A Novel - Carol Rifka Brunt

Inadvertently fell asleep listening to this on the plane and have NO intentions of trying to go back to find where I left off. It'll be the same 'ol sh!t anyway - Greta is a b!tch, Mom is a cold b!tch, Toby is awesome but June is awkward and able to go anywhere without letting anyone know. My complaints about this book in a nutshell.

Question: How old were you when you started leaving the house and doing things outside?  Did you still have to let your parents know where you were and when you would be back?

I ask, because I really didn't get out AT ALL as a teenager, and I want to know if this book, where June can leave and not tell her parents anything is normal or not.
